Custom aluminum coating solutions can be applied to finished aluminum extrusions after they have been designed and manufactured. At our facility in Southeastern Massachusetts, we handle everything from start to finish. Our team of skilled technicians can do it all, from designing and extruding to secondary operations and fabrication, and even including painting aluminum extrusions and applying powder-coating and anodizing finishes. We prefer to conduct our business in a manner that emphasizes stringent adherence to quality standards. When we finish an order, we want it to be perfect, or at least better than the customer expected. Aluminum extrusions can be fished in a variety of unique ways.
Finishing for Custom Aluminum Extrusion
Aluminum extrusion is often painted as a finishing option. Our paint line operates at near-constant speeds because we know that uniform color application depends on the quality of every service we offer. When it comes to meeting the needs of the various industries we serve, we know that top-notch adhesion is crucial. A vertical electrostatic polycron line allows us to paint items up to 20 feet in length. Our four-step pre-wash process ensures that the paint will adhere well to the aluminum components throughout the painting process. Our pre-wash process includes an etch, a clean wash, a neutralizing wash, and an industry standard pre-wash to ensure that everything is properly prepped for painting.
The materials are washed and chemically prepared according to the pre-treat system, then dried and prepared for painting. In order to get the best possible results from the paint, it is necessary to wash the surface thoroughly before applying it. As painters, we also use innovative techniques. We use a paint application technique that yields a wet paint thickness of about 2 ml, which is double the norm. Our staff meticulously checks the passing components at regular intervals to guarantee uniform coloring. The aluminum components are baked in one of our specialized ovens to complete the curing process. After curing, our skilled technicians remove each component from the assembly line by hand and inspect it before sending it on to shipping.
Finishing Solutions for Aluminum
Powder coating and anodizing are additional types of finishing we provide here at Silver City Aluminum. The aluminum extrusions we produce can be finished in a wide variety of ways. In order to give our customers the finished look and improved functionality they want, we collaborate with a number of powder coaters and anodizers to offer them individualized aluminum coating solutions. In addition, this allows us to shorten the lead time, which varies based on the specifics of the finished part and the powder coating and anodizing options chosen. Some coating options are purely cosmetic, while others provide practical advantages as well. Some increase the aluminum’s resistance to corrosion, scratches, abrasions, and other forms of damage, while others provide practical benefits like improved grip and usability.
Anodizing is a method of coloring aluminum extrusions of varying lengths. After extrusion and fabrication are complete, it can be used for either short or long-term projects. The anodizing on our products can be clear, black, or any custom color the customer desires. When you need a special anodizing finish, we have a variety of powder-coating options available.
