Once you have designed and made your custom aluminum extrusions, you have the opportunity to finish them with custom aluminum coating solutions. At Silver City Aluminum, we do everything in-house at our Southeastern Massachusetts facility. From design and extrusion to secondary operations and fabrication, as well as painting aluminum extrusions and applying powder-coating and anodizing finishes, it is all done by our team of highly trained and experienced technicians. Maintaining a high level of quality control is very important to us and the way that we prefer to do business. Our goal is to meet or exceed the expectations of our customers for every order that we complete. This includes custom fishing options for aluminum extrusions.
Painting Aluminum Extrusions
One of the most popular types of finishing used with aluminum extrusion is paint. Our paint line runs almost non-stop, as we strive for perfection in every service that we provide to achieve a consistent color application. Top-rated adhesion is critical to the long-lasting durability and professional results that we work to deliver, ensuring that the requirements of every industry that we serve are effectively met. We have the ability to paint materials up to twenty feet in length using a vertical, electrostatic polycron line. All of the parts that go through our painting process receive our four-stage pre-wash to guarantee excellent adhesion to the aluminum materials for long-lasting results.
Our Four-Stage Process Includes:
- An etch
- A clean wash
- A neutralizing wash
- An industry standard pre-wash
Following the pre-treat system, which properly washes and chemically preps the materials, they are dried and ready to be painted. The pre-wash process ensures a clean surface to apply the paint for the best possible results. We go above and beyond when it comes to our painting methods as well. We apply the paint at approximately 2 ml’s wet in thickness, which exceeds the industry standard. The passing parts are constantly monitored and checked by our staff to ensure a consistent color application. The aluminum materials are then cured through a baking process in one of our special ovens. After curing, each part is taken off the line by hand and is inspected by our trained technicians before taking it to the shipping department.
Powder-Coating and Anodizing
The other type of finishing that we offer at Silver City Aluminum is powder-coating and anodizing. We offer a lot of custom finishing options for aluminum extrusions. We work with several different powder coaters and anodizers in order to provide our clients with custom aluminum coating solutions that deliver the finished look and enhanced function that they desire. This also helps us to improve lead time, which can depend on the actual part that is being finished and the various powder-coating and anodizing options that are selected. While some coating solutions are purely aesthetic, there are some that offer more benefits. Some enhance the aluminum’s ability to protect against corrosion, scratches, abrasions, and other types of damage, while others offer functional benefits, such as better grip and usage.
Anodizing is a process that involves the dyeing of short or long pieces of aluminum extrusion. It can be applied in either small or big runs once the extrusion and fabrication process is complete. Our customers can choose from clear or black anodizing, as well as custom colors and multi-color options. We offer a wide range of powder-coating products to create a custom anodizing finish upon request. If you would like to learn more about how powder-coating and anodizing can enhance your custom aluminum extrusion parts, products, and components, make sure to speak with one of our agents.
